Directions to the Bayfordbury SiteThe Observatory is located on a site off of Lower Hatfield Road (B158) which connects Hertford with Essenden. The Uno 341/641 Bus travels this route (timetable).
The entrance is opposite St Mary's Lane from Hertingfordbury,
which is signposted from the A414. The site is on a one-way road with
an exit onto the B158 opposite the Riverside Garden Centre. If you reach
the manor house, you've gone past the site. It is on the right just before
the house. This is highlighted on the site map here.|

We advise you to wear warm clothes and sturdy footwear as you are likely to want to walk between the SLC and the observatory domes during your visit.
There is disabled access to the SLC, where the talks and planetarium shows are given, and there is access to our two largest telescope domes which house the Chris Kitchin and the Marsh Telescopes.
